Retrofits

The Energy Efficiency Retrofit element of the program involves implementation of energy efficiency retrofit projects providing cost-effective energy savings during the program implementation period. The California Community Colleges have an existing and extensive inventory of cost effective energy saving measures.  Examples of projects include high efficiency lighting retrofits, HVAC equipment and system upgrades, and installation of motors upgrades and controls.

Project development of existing inventory started in the early phase of the Program, with implementation continuing through 2008.  Additional project identification and development efforts will be ongoing throughout the life of the Program.  In addition, the process of finalizing the inventory and installation of measures will be well documented and passed on for use in the retro- and continuous commissioning element and the development of best practices and education and training in the third element of the program.
